Gas Line Installation & Repair

Gas lines run right and tested tight

New gas lines for appliances indoors and out, plus leak detection and repair, pressure-tested before we leave.

Gas Line Installation & Repair

Gas work is not a guessing game

Gas line installation starts with sizing. A gas line has to be the right size for every appliance on it, joined correctly and tight at every fitting. Get any of that wrong and you can starve a furnace of fuel, leave a range burning poorly or let gas escape into the house. Older lines corrode or shift with the soil, and every new appliance, from a gas dryer to an outdoor kitchen, adds load the original piping may not have been sized for.

Our licensed technicians locate leaks with electronic detectors and pressure-drop tests, repair or replace damaged pipe to fuel gas code, and size new runs for the appliances you plan to use. Every job ends with a pressure test to confirm the system holds. Gas line work is offered by our St. George team, serving Hurricane and Southern Utah. Adding a gas water heater? Gas line questions

What should I do if I smell gas?

Don’t switch lights or appliances on or off, and don’t use anything that could spark. Get everyone outside, then call 911 and your gas utility from a safe distance. Once the utility has made the area safe, call us to find and repair the leak and pressure-test the line.

Which locations offer gas line service?

Gas line installation and repair is offered by our St. George location, which also covers Hurricane, Washington, Santa Clara and Ivins. It isn’t offered as a separate service at our Flagstaff, Durango or Jackson locations. For general plumbing in those areas, start at our plumbing page.

Can you run a gas line for an outdoor kitchen or fire pit?

Yes. We size the new run for its burners and any other appliances on the same line, install a shutoff where you can reach it, and pressure-test before the first use. Outdoor cooking is popular in the Southern Utah climate, and a properly sized line keeps the grill and the furnace both working well.

Why does gas line size matter?

Every appliance needs a certain volume of gas to run properly. Add a range or water heater to a line that was sized for less, and appliances on that line can struggle when they run at the same time. We calculate the total load before installing anything new. Larger tankless water heaters often need a bigger line.

Do you work on propane as well as natural gas?

Yes. Our technicians install and repair piping for both natural gas and propane systems. The fittings, pressures and appliance settings differ, so tell us which fuel your home uses when you book and we’ll come prepared. Propane systems also have a tank regulator that we check as part of the job.

What affects the cost of a new gas line?

Mostly the length of the run, whether it goes through finished walls or open crawlspace, the pipe size the appliance load calls for, and the permit and inspection your city requires. Outdoor runs to a grill or fire pit add trenching. A repair depends on where the leak is and how much pipe has to come out. We test and measure first, then give you a written, upfront price before any work starts.
