Faucets & Fixtures in Durango
Faucets, showerheads and valves are where Durango’s hard water shows first. Minerals build up on cartridges and seats until a handle grinds or won’t quite close, aerators clog, and a shower that used to spray evenly now spits sideways. Outside, a frost-free hose bib can still split inside the wall if a hose stayed connected through a cold night, and nobody notices until it’s turned on in spring.
We repair what’s worth repairing, from a worn cartridge to a stuck diverter, and replace what isn’t. That covers kitchen and bathroom faucets, sinks, shower and tub valves, garbage disposals and outdoor spigots, each installed with new supply lines and shutoffs where the old ones are tired. If the drip you’re chasing turns out to be inside a wall, leak detection finds it, and a water softener keeps new fixtures from scaling up.
Symptom Check
Most fixture problems are easy to spot and simpler to fix early.
A worn cartridge or seat lets water through with the handle closed.
Scale inside the valve makes it hard to turn or adjust.
Mineral-clogged nozzles throw water everywhere except where you stand.
A worn balancing valve lets the water jump hot or cold mid-shower.
It hums without spinning, or drips from the bottom of the unit.
A hose bib that froze over winter may spray inside the wall.
What We Repair & Install
Repairs, replacements and new installs through the house and yard.
How It Works
Most fixture jobs take a single visit.
Which one, what it’s doing and whether you have a replacement in mind.
We check the parts, the shutoff and the supply lines underneath.
Both options priced before we start.
We run the fixture, test each connection and leave the cabinet dry.

The water here carries a lot of dissolved calcium and magnesium. Each time water dries on an aerator or seeps past a cartridge, it leaves a thin film behind, and that builds into the crust that jams valves and clogs showerheads. Cleaning aerators helps, but a water softener stops the buildup throughout the house.
If the body is solid and parts are still made for it, a repair is usually the cheaper, quicker answer. If the finish is corroding, the parts are discontinued, or the faucet has leaked into the cabinet more than once, replacing it makes more sense. We’ll show you which parts are worn and price both choices.
Disconnect hoses before the first hard freeze, even from a frost-free hose bib, because a connected hose traps water in the valve and can split it. On older spigots that aren’t frost-free, close the indoor shutoff and drain the line. If yours leaked last spring or sprays when you open it, we can replace it with a frost-free model.
It can be, with care. A disposal sends more solids to the tank, so septic homes that use one often need pumping more frequently. Some owners skip the disposal or limit what goes into it. If you keep one, run plenty of cold water and avoid grease and stringy scraps. For tank or drain field concerns, see septic repair.
Often, yes. Many valves can be rebuilt with a new cartridge from the front, through the trim, with no tile removed. A full valve replacement sometimes needs access from behind the wall, through a closet for example, or a small opening we plan carefully. We look at your valve first and explain the access needed before quoting.
