Reverse Osmosis
Most filters work like a strainer or a sponge. Sediment filters catch particles, and carbon soaks up chlorine and odors. Neither does much about what’s dissolved in the water: salts, hardness minerals, nitrates and many metals pass straight through. Reverse osmosis goes further. Water is pushed through a membrane so fine that most dissolved solids can’t follow, and what’s left behind is rinsed down the drain.
A typical system has a sediment stage and a carbon stage to protect the membrane, the membrane itself, a small storage tank and a final polishing filter before your dedicated faucet. In Southern Utah, where tap water carries a heavy mineral load, it’s a popular way to get clean drinking and cooking water. Reverse osmosis systems are installed and serviced by our St. George team, often alongside whole-home filtration or a softener.
Reasons to Upgrade
Most people come to RO for one of these reasons.
A flat, salty or metallic taste that other filters didn’t fix.
Cases of bottles each week for drinking and cooking.
Kettles, coffee makers and ice machines crusting up with minerals.
Results showed dissolved solids or contaminants you want reduced.
You want an extra layer of treatment for the water your family drinks.
An existing system that’s slow to fill, leaking or overdue for filters.
What We Do
From a first system to keeping an older one working.
How It Works
Most under-sink installs take one visit.
We look at what’s in your water and how the system will fit under the sink.
You choose the setup and approve the price before installation.
We mount the stages and tank, add the faucet and connect the drain.
The system is flushed, checked for leaks and tested at the tap.

Seasonal checkups for every system in your home.
Seasonal checkups catch small problems before they become emergencies — and keep your systems running efficiently all year.
Reverse osmosis is offered through our St. George location, which serves St. George, Hurricane and the surrounding Southern Utah towns. In Flagstaff, Durango and Jackson, our teams can test your water and recommend whole-home filtration or a softener for your home.
Some, yes. To keep the membrane clean, an RO unit sends a portion of the water it processes down the drain along with what it removed. Modern systems are far more efficient than older ones, and softened or pre-filtered feed water helps too. We’ll set yours up so it makes the water you need without running constantly.
It removes most dissolved minerals, including calcium and magnesium. Most of the minerals people need come from food rather than water, and some prefer the cleaner taste. If you’d like some minerals back, a remineralizing final stage can add a small amount for taste. We can talk through the options.
The pre-filters and post-filter are usually replaced on a regular schedule, and the membrane less often. Hard or sediment-heavy water shortens those intervals. We’ll set a schedule for your water, and slow tank refills or a change in taste are signs something is due.
They solve different problems. Whole-home filtration treats every tap for chlorine, sediment and odor. Reverse osmosis treats a smaller amount of water much more thoroughly for drinking and cooking. Many Southern Utah homes pair RO with a water softener, which also protects the membrane.
