Plumbing in Jackson HoleReliable service on the Gros Ventre
Plumbing, septic, water heater and well water help for Kelly homes on the quiet east side of Jackson Hole.
Kelly is a handful of homes on the Gros Ventre River, out on the east side of the valley with the Tetons across the valley. It’s quiet, it’s remote, and many houses here depend on systems the homeowner owns: a private well, a septic tank, a water heater that has to keep up through January. When one of those fails, you need someone who will make the drive.
Kelly is part of our Jackson Hole service area, and our Jackson team covers it around the clock. The most common calls are for well water problems, septic repair, frozen lines and water heater repair. Every job starts with a price you approve, and all of it is backed by our full service guarantee.

Water Treatment in Jackson HoleLocal knowledge: Kelly
Kelly sits at about 6,650 feet along the Gros Ventre River on the eastern side of Jackson Hole. It began in the late 1890s as Grovont, took the name Kelly in 1909, and was wiped out on May 18, 1927, when part of the natural dam left by the 1925 Gros Ventre landslide gave way and flooded the valley below. The slide scar is still visible upstream, above Lower Slide Lake. Today Kelly is a small community, with 138 residents at the 2010 census.
Winters here are long and very cold. The climate borders on subarctic, and January nights average around zero. That has two big effects on a house. First, pipes freeze wherever they’re exposed: crawl spaces, outside walls, well pits, and the line between the pressure tank and the house. Second, there is no slack when something fails. A split line or a dead well pump this far from town can turn into real damage before anyone notices, so insulating exposed runs and knowing where the main shutoff is matters more here than almost anywhere.
Homes this far from town often rely on private wells and septic systems. Well water in the area can carry iron and sediment, which stain fixtures, clog aerators and settle in the bottom of a water heater. A test tells you what you’re dealing with, and the fix might be a sediment filter, an iron filter, a softener or a combination. Septic systems need periodic attention too, and a gurgling drain or a soggy patch over the field is worth a call.
Hot water takes more effort here as well. Incoming water is very cold for much of the year, so a water heater works harder and wears faster than one in a warmer climate. Sizing it right, and flushing it regularly, keeps it going.

Orange or rust-colored stains usually mean iron in the water. It’s common in private wells and, while it’s mostly a nuisance, it can clog fixtures and shorten the life of a water heater. We test your water and recommend the right filter. See water filtration.
Slow drains throughout the house, gurgling, sewage odors outside, or wet, unusually green ground over the drain field. Don’t wait for a backup. We inspect the line and tank and explain what’s wrong before recommending a repair. Learn about septic repair.
Yes. We handle the plumbing side of a well system: the pressure tank, pressure switch, check valves and the line from the well into the house. Surging or low pressure, a pump that runs constantly, or a waterlogged tank are all things we see in Kelly. Read more about well water solutions.
Kelly is covered by our Jackson team, and we answer 24/7, including nights and holidays. We’ll give you an arrival window when you call. In the meantime, if water is leaking, shut off the main or turn off the well pump to limit damage.
