Hydro Jetting in St. George

For clogs a cable can’t finish

A drain cable bores a path through a blockage. In Southern Utah, that often isn’t enough. Years of very hard water leave a rock-like layer of calcium inside drain and sewer pipe, grease bonds to it, and desert trees send fine roots into any joint that weeps. The cable opens a hole, the scale stays, and the clog is back by spring.

Hydro jetting attacks the whole pipe wall. Our plumbers run a camera first to confirm the pipe can handle it, set the pressure for its material and age, then work the jet nozzle from the cleanout toward the street, flushing scale, grease and root mass out of the line. A second camera pass shows you the result. If that footage reveals a crack or a sag, we’ll explain your sewer repair options, and if hard water caused the buildup, a water softener slows its return.

  • Camera Before and After We check the pipe first and show you the clean line at the end.
  • Pressure Set for Your Pipe Older clay and cast iron get a gentler approach than newer PVC.
  • No Harsh Chemicals Water does the work, so nothing caustic goes down your lines.

Symptom Check

Signs a line needs jetting, not snaking

These point to buildup along the length of the pipe rather than a single plug.

  • Snaked, Then Clogged Again

A drain that slows within weeks of being cleared still has buildup on the walls.

  • Grease from a Busy Kitchen

Years of cooking fats harden into a lining a cable just slides past.

  • Roots Seen on Camera

Fine root mats at the joints of a sewer lateral, often near mature trees.

  • Slow Drains House-Wide

Everything drains, just slowly, as scale narrows the main line.

  • Gurgling Toilets

Air pushed through traps as water squeezes past a partly closed line.

  • Backups in Low Fixtures

Floor drains and basement showers fill first when the main can’t keep up.

What We Jet

What hydro jetting removes

The same machine handles very different problems once the nozzle and pressure are matched to the job.

  • Root Intrusion Root masses cut and washed out of sewer joints with a cutting nozzle.
  • Sand and Sediment Red sand and grit cleared from low spots where it settles.
  • Main Sewer Laterals The full run from your cleanout to the city connection.
  • Commercial Drains Restaurant and shop lines that build up faster than a home’s.

How It Works

A jetting visit, start to finish

Camera, jet, camera. The footage on either side is what makes it safe and worth it.

  1. Inspect the Line

We run a camera to find the buildup and confirm the pipe is sound enough to jet.

  2. Approve the Plan

You see the footage and the upfront price before we start.

  3. Jet the Full Run

We work the nozzle through the line, flushing debris out as we go.

  4. Prove It’s Clear

Hydro jetting questions from St. George homeowners

Is hydro jetting safe for older pipes?

Usually, and the camera is how we know. Clay, cast iron and Orangeburg pipe in older neighborhoods can be fragile, so we inspect first. If a section is already cracked or collapsing, jetting could make it worse, and we’ll tell you so. In that case, trenchless repair or a spot fix comes before any cleaning.

How is hydro jetting different from snaking?

A snake, or drain cable, spins a cutting head through the clog and opens a channel. Jetting uses high-pressure water to scrub the inside of the pipe from wall to wall. For a single hair clog a snake is fine. For scale, grease or roots spread along a line, jetting removes what a snake leaves behind, so the clog doesn’t return as quickly.

Will jetting get rid of tree roots for good?

Jetting clears the roots that are in the pipe now. It doesn’t seal the joint they came through, so in time they can grow back. If the camera shows roots entering at many joints, or a cracked section, lining the pipe is the longer-term answer. We’ll show you the footage and talk through your repair options.

How often should a line be jetted?

Most homes don’t need it on a schedule. It makes sense to jet again when a line that was cleaned starts slowing down, or on a set interval for kitchens that see heavy grease use. Softening your water reduces how fast scale returns. After jetting, the camera footage gives us a baseline to compare against next time.
