Septic Repair in St. George

When your home treats its own wastewater

Not every Southern Utah home sends its wastewater to a city main. On larger lots and along the rural edges of Washington and Iron counties, a septic tank and drain field do that job in the yard. The local soil makes it trickier than it sounds. Alkaline desert ground often holds a hard caliche layer that slows absorption, and minerals from very hard water can add to the sludge and crust that builds up in a tank and its field.

Our plumbers diagnose the whole system, from the line leaving the house to the end of the field. We repair broken baffles and outlet filters, replace failed effluent and ejector pumps, clear and restore drain lines, and replace tanks or fields when they’re beyond saving, with the permits the local health department requires. If a backup turns out to be the house line instead, our drain cleaning team handles it on the same visit.

  • Whole-System Diagnosis House line, tank, pump and field checked before we recommend work.
  • Backups Answered 24/7 An overflowing tank gets a call back any hour.
  • Free Estimates Upfront pricing on every repair, approved by you first.

Symptom Check

Signs your septic system is struggling

Septic trouble shows up both inside the house and out in the yard.

  • Slow Drains Everywhere

Every fixture in the house drains slowly at the same time.

  • Odor Near the Tank

A sewage smell around the lid, the field or the plumbing vents.

  • Wet Ground Over the Field

Spongy soil or standing water when it hasn’t rained.

  • Bright Green Patches

Lush growth above the drain lines in an otherwise dry yard.

  • Pump Alarm Sounding

A high-water alarm means the pump or float has stopped keeping up.

  • No Pumping in Years

Solids that build up too long start moving into the drain field.

What We Repair

Septic questions from Southern Utah homeowners

How often should my septic tank be pumped?

Every three to five years is a common guideline for a household, but tank size and how many people live in the home change that. A garbage disposal or a busy guest season shortens it. If you don’t know when it was last pumped, an inspection will tell us how much sludge and scum are in the tank and whether it’s due.

Is the backup in my septic system or my house line?

It can be either, and the fix is very different. If the tank level is normal but the house drains won’t move, the clog is usually in the line between the house and the tank. A high tank or a wet field points to the system itself. We check both, and a camera inspection can follow the line all the way to the tank.

Can a failing drain field be saved?

Sometimes. If the field is clogged by solids that escaped a full tank or a broken baffle, pumping the tank, fixing the cause and clearing the lines can bring it back. A field that has been saturated for a long time, or crushed by vehicles, may need replacing. We’ll tell you which you’re facing before quoting the work.

Does hard water affect a septic system?

It can. Scale builds up in the house line and pump components, and minerals add to the material that settles in the tank. A softener that regenerates with brine also sends that discharge to the tank, so its setup matters. If you’re on septic and want softer water, ask us about the right water softener for your system.

Where do you provide septic repair?

Across Washington and Iron counties, wherever homes are on septic, including the areas around Hurricane, Cedar City and Springdale. If your house is on city sewer, our sewer line repair page covers the line from your home to the main.
