24/7 Emergency Plumbing

Water where it shouldn’t be? Call now

Burst pipes, flooding, sewage backups and failed water heaters, answered by a licensed Element plumber any hour of any day.

Emergency Plumbing

Stop the water, then fix the cause

A plumbing emergency is measured in gallons per minute. A split supply line can soak drywall, insulation and flooring before you find the shutoff, and a sewer backup brings a health risk along with the mess. Cold-climate homes see frozen pipes give way during the first warm afternoon after a hard freeze. Desert homes see supply lines and water heaters fail after years of hard water.

When you call, we talk you through shutting off the water while a plumber heads your way. On site, the first job is stopping the damage: isolating the break, clearing the backup or shutting down a leaking tank. Then we explain what failed and what a lasting repair costs, and you approve it before we start. If a hidden line is the source, our leak detection tools find it without opening every wall. For a frozen or split pipe, see leak repair.

  • A Person Answers Day, night, weekend or holiday, your call is picked up.
  • Damage Control First We stop the water before anything else.
  • No After-Hours Surprises The price is set and approved before the repair.

Is It an Emergency?

When to call right away

If any of these is happening now, shut off the water if you can and call us.

  • Active Flooding

Water spreading across a floor or pouring from a ceiling.

  • Burst or Frozen Pipes

No water from the taps in a freeze, or a pipe that has split.

  • Sewage Backing Up

Waste rising in tubs, toilets or floor drains.

  • Leaking Water Heater

Water pooling around the tank or spraying from a valve.

  • No Water at All

The whole house is dry, which can point to a broken main.

  • Gas Smell

Leave the house and call 911 and the gas utility first.

Emergency plumbing questions

Where is my main water shutoff?

In cold-climate homes it’s usually in a basement, crawlspace or utility room where the main line enters. In desert homes it’s often outside near the foundation, by the hose bib, or at the meter box near the street. Find it before you need it, and make sure it turns. A stuck valve is something we can replace during any plumbing repair visit.

Should I call a plumber or a restoration company first?

Call a plumber first, because nothing dries out while water is still running. Once we’ve stopped the source, a water damage restoration company can pull up wet carpet and dry the walls. Take photos of the damage and the failed part before cleanup starts, since your insurer may ask for them.

Is emergency plumbing available at every location?

Yes. All four locations answer plumbing emergencies around the clock, including holidays, with plumbers who live in the region they serve. Local details are on each page: Flagstaff, Durango, St. George & Hurricane and Jackson. Each lists the towns that team covers.

How do I keep pipes from freezing?

Keep the heat on when you travel, open cabinet doors on outside walls during a cold snap, disconnect garden hoses and let a faucet drip on the coldest nights. Pipes in crawlspaces and garages benefit from insulation or heat cable. If a line has frozen before, it will likely freeze again until it’s protected.

What if the emergency is a sewer backup?

Stop running water anywhere in the house, since every flush or load of laundry adds to the backup. Keep kids and pets away from the water. We’ll clear the main line and, if it keeps happening, look inside with a camera. See drain cleaning for how we handle clogs.
