EV Charger Installation in St. George
The cord that comes with most electric cars plugs into a regular 120-volt outlet, and it’s slow, often adding only a few miles of range per hour. For a daily commute, a road trip to Cedar City or a run up to Springdale, most drivers want a Level 2 charger on a 240-volt circuit, which can refill a typical battery overnight. That circuit is a big new load, and in a St. George summer it shares the panel with an air conditioner that’s already working hard.
Element’s licensed electricians start with your panel. We run a load calculation, plan the circuit and breaker size, pick the best mounting spot in the garage, carport or driveway and install the charger to code. If your panel is short on capacity, we’ll explain the options, from load management to a panel upgrade, and price each one upfront.

Seasonal checkups for every system in your home.
Seasonal checkups catch small problems before they become emergencies — and keep your systems running efficiently all year.
Level 1 uses a standard 120-volt outlet and adds range slowly, which suits plug-in hybrids or light driving. Level 2 uses a 240-volt circuit, similar to an electric dryer, and charges many times faster, so most battery EVs can fill up overnight. Most homeowners choose Level 2.
Many can, but not all. We check the panel’s size, how much of it your AC and appliances already use, and whether there’s room for a new breaker. If capacity is tight, we’ll explain options including a panel upgrade.
Yes, as long as the charger is rated for outdoor use. A carport or the shaded side of the house is better than a wall that takes full afternoon sun, since electronics last longer when they run cooler. We seal the connections against dust and monsoon rain and use weather-rated fittings so the installation holds up year after year.
Most Level 2 chargers use a standard connector, and adapters cover the common exceptions. Tell us which car you drive, or show us the charger you’ve already bought, and we’ll confirm it will work before we install anything. If you haven’t picked a charger yet, we can talk through the features that matter, like Wi-Fi scheduling and cable length.
It’s a good idea. The charger and the car plugged into it both contain sensitive electronics, and monsoon season brings plenty of lightning to Southern Utah. A whole-home device at the panel protects the charger along with your AC and appliances, and it’s simple to add while we’re already working there. See surge protection.
