Sewer Camera Inspection
A sewer scope inspection answers the question most home buyers never think to ask: what shape is the buried pipe in? The line that carries everything out of the house has usually been underground for decades, and nobody looks at it until something backs up. By then the questions are expensive ones. Is it a clog or a break? Roots or a sag? One bad joint or a whole failing line? Digging to find out costs time and yard, and repeated cleanings that never fix the cause cost more.
A sewer camera answers those questions in one visit. We feed a waterproof camera through a cleanout, watch the live picture with you, and note the distance to anything that matters. You keep the recording, which is useful for buyers, sellers and repair decisions alike. Stand-alone camera inspections are offered through our Durango, St. George and Jackson teams; St. George also serves Hurricane and Washington and Iron counties.
When to Inspect
Buying a house? This is the one inspection a general home inspector doesn’t do. For owners, some of these are warning signs and some are simply smart timing.
The main line has been cleared more than once and still keeps stopping up.
Clay, cast iron or fiber pipe can hide problems a standard home inspection never sees.
One strip of yard is greener or wetter than the rest, right above the sewer path.
An odor near the foundation or cleanout that won’t go away.
Roots go looking for water, and a sewer joint is an easy place to find it.
Know the line’s condition before adding a bathroom or pouring new concrete.
What the Camera Finds
Each finding points to a different fix, which is the whole reason to look.
How It Works
One visit, with the footage reviewed before we leave.
Book online or by phone. Tell us if it’s for a sale, a backup or peace of mind.
We locate a cleanout or other entry point so the camera can reach the main line.
You can watch the live picture as we travel the line and note each finding.
We go over the footage, explain your options and price any repair up front.

Stand-alone sewer camera inspections, including pre-purchase inspections, are booked through our Durango, St. George and Jackson locations; St. George also covers Hurricane and nearby towns. In Flagstaff, if a drain keeps backing up, book sewer line repair with the local team and the plumber will explain how they’ll diagnose the line.
Usually not. A standard home inspection runs water at the fixtures but doesn’t look inside the buried line to the street or tank. A separate sewer camera inspection fills that gap, and the recording gives you something concrete to bring to the negotiation if the line needs work. Book it inside your inspection window so there’s time to act on what it finds.
A cleanout is the easiest way in, and most homes have one near the foundation or in the yard. If yours is buried or missing, we’ll look for another practical way in. When there isn’t one, we’ll explain the options, including adding a cleanout, and price that before anything is done.
We’ll show you the footage, tell you how serious it looks and lay out the choices, from cleaning to a spot repair to replacing a section. Many failing lines can be fixed without a long trench; see trenchless sewer repair. You approve the price before any work starts.
Yes, and it shows what the clog is made of, which matters. Grease and paper call for cleaning. Roots may call for cleaning plus a repair. A broken or collapsed pipe needs a repair before cleaning will last. Seeing it first keeps you from paying for the wrong fix.
