Wilson sits at about 6,150 feet at the base of Teton Pass, just northwest of Jackson on State Highway 22. Elijah Nicholas Wilson, a former Pony Express rider who wrote The White Indian Boy about his boyhood with the Shoshone, pioneered the area in 1889, and the community carries his name. Today it’s home to about 1,567 people, with a small commercial area around the Fish Creek plaza and community events at Owen Bircher Park.
Jackson Hole’s climate sets the agenda for every house here. In nearby Jackson, about 236 mornings a year drop below freezing, and around 35 of them fall below zero. Nights can be bitterly cold even when the days are bright, and the cold reaches any pipe outside the heated part of the house: crawl spaces, exterior walls, garages and the line in from the well. Insulating those runs and keeping heat steady through cold snaps prevents most frozen-pipe calls.
Larger homes bring long pipe runs and big heating loads. If yours runs on a boiler feeding radiant floors, it needs yearly care on the burner, pumps, valves and expansion tank to stay reliable. Hot water is the other challenge. Water coming into the house is very cold much of the year, so the heater has to work harder, and the far bathroom can wait a long time for warm water. A recirculation loop or a properly sized tankless system can help.
Homes on private wells should test their water regularly for hardness, iron and other minerals that show up as scale or stains. Septic systems need regular pumping and a watchful eye on slow drains. We handle both, and we always start by finding the cause before recommending a fix.

Yes. Hidden leaks under slabs, in walls or along the line from the well or meter are common in larger homes. We use leak detection to pinpoint the spot before opening anything, which saves damage and cost. See leak detection.
We do. We service and repair boilers, circulator pumps, zone valves and expansion tanks, and we can replace an older boiler with a modern or combi unit when repair no longer makes sense. You’ll see both prices before deciding. Learn about boiler service.
For many households, yes, as long as it’s sized for very cold incoming water. Tankless units save space and don’t run out during back-to-back showers. We size each system to your home and explain the venting and gas or water line work. See tankless water heaters.
