Ductless Mini-Splits
A ductless mini-split pairs a compact outdoor unit with one or more wall-mounted heads inside, joined by a small refrigerant line through the wall. There are no ducts to build or lose air through, and each head runs on its own setting. Mini split installation cost tracks the number of heads and how far the line sets have to run. That makes it a natural fit for a cabin, a casita, a converted garage, a bonus room over the garage, or an older house that was never built for central air. Most mini-splits also run in reverse, so the same unit warms the room in winter and cools it in summer.
Good results depend on sizing each head to its room and placing it where the air can reach. We work that out on site, then route the line set, wire the system and commission it. Our St. George & Hurricane team installs and services mini-splits.
Good Fit?
These are the situations where ductless usually beats extending a central system.
Baseboard, wall heaters or nothing at all, and no room to run ducts.
A space you use year-round that the main system was never meant to serve.
Extending ducts would overload the existing system or cost too much.
A sunroom or upstairs office that’s always too hot or too cold.
Noisy, drafty units that block the view and come out every fall.
Error codes, ice on the outdoor unit, or a head blowing the wrong temperature.
What We Do
From one head in a bedroom to a multi-zone layout for a whole house.
How It Works
The number of zones, line-set length, where the heads mount and any electrical work set the price. Placement and sizing are decided before anything goes on the wall.
We look at each space, its windows and where a head can mount.
Heating and cooling loads are worked out room by room.
You see the equipment, the head locations and the price.
We mount, connect, charge and test every zone, then show you the controls.

Maintenance Membership
Seasonal checkups for every system in your home.
Seasonal checkups catch small problems before they become emergencies — and keep your systems running efficiently all year.
Yes. Most mini-splits run in reverse to provide heat, and cold-climate models keep heating well below freezing. Some homes still keep a furnace or other backup for the coldest nights; see furnace installation.
Usually one per room or open area you want to control, sized to that space. An open great room may need one larger head; three bedrooms usually need three small ones. We work it out from the room sizes, windows and how you use each space, not from a rule of thumb.
They avoid the air lost through leaky ducts, and their inverter compressors slow down instead of switching on and off. Because each head runs independently, you can leave a guest room off and only condition the rooms in use, which is where most of the savings come from.
Rinse the washable filters in each head every month or two, and have the coils, blower wheels and drain lines cleaned once a year. A dirty head loses airflow and can start to smell. Plan members get it scheduled automatically; see the maintenance plan.
Our St. George team handles ductless installs and repairs, including Hurricane. In Southern Utah they often go into casitas, garages and additions. Ask for a free estimate and they’ll plan the layout with you on site.
Nationally, a single-zone ductless system often runs about $2,000 to $5,000 installed, and a multi-zone system serving three or four rooms about $5,000 to $15,000. Cold-climate models, long line-set runs, a new electrical circuit and heads mounted far from the outdoor unit push the number up. Those are national ranges that vary by home. Element gives a written, upfront price for your home after walking the rooms, and estimates are free.
