Built for desert homes
110° summers that push air conditioners to the limit and hard water that wears out water heaters and fixtures — we know your climate.
Plumbing in Hurricane
Two things shape nearly every plumbing call we take in Hurricane. The first is the water, which carries enough mineral to leave scale inside water heaters, shower valves and faucet aerators within a few years. The second is the desert itself: summer heat bakes exposed lines, and clear January nights drop below freezing and crack hose bibs and irrigation backflows. When you need a plumber in Hurricane, UT, Element sends one from our office at 5550 W 860 S rather than from across Washington County.
The housing mix keeps the work varied. Hurricane grew from 5,461 housing units in 2010 to 8,035 in 2020, so a morning might start with a slab leak in a new build near Sand Hollow and end with decades-old galvanized pipe in a house in the original town. Our licensed plumbers handle both: leak detection and repair, repiping, water heater repair and replacement, toilets and fixtures, and gas lines for ranges and fire pits. You get the cause explained and the price in writing before anything starts. For the full list of services, see St. George plumbing; for a slow or stopped drain, our Hurricane drain cleaning page covers that.
Symptom Check
Hard water and desert soil give you a little notice before a failure. These are the signs worth acting on.
Scale narrowing the pipe, a tired pressure regulator or a leak stealing flow.
Mineral grit chews through cartridges and seals faster than it would elsewhere.
Usage up with no change in habits usually means water is escaping somewhere unseen.
Discoloration at the tap often traces to corroding galvanized pipe in older homes.
Sediment on the tank bottom pops and rumbles as it heats, and capacity drops.
A gas odor near an appliance means clear the house first and call from outside.

Yes. Element’s second Southern Utah office is at 5550 W 860 S, and the plumbers covering the east side of Washington County start their day there. The St. George office backs us up for larger projects such as whole-house repipes. Either way you get the same licensed team, the same upfront pricing and the same guarantee.
Yes, tank and tankless. Hard water is the usual culprit here: sediment settles on the tank bottom, the heater rumbles, hot water runs out sooner and the burner works harder. We flush tanks, replace elements, thermostats, gas valves and anode rods, and when a tank is past saving we install a new one sized to your household. Ask about the $99 water heater flush and safety check and the $250 off a new tank water heater offer.
Mineral content. Hurricane’s water leaves scale on every surface it touches, and the grit it sheds grinds at rubber seals and ceramic cartridges, so a repaired faucet can start dripping again sooner than it should. A water softener slows that wear across the whole house, and we will tell you honestly whether yours would benefit from one.
The part that failed, where it sits (an exposed hose bib versus a line under the slab), how much has to be opened up to reach it, and whether a permit is involved, as it is for water heaters and gas work. Line length and depth drive the price on water and gas lines. Your plumber gives you a written price for each option before starting, and estimates are free.
A little. Winters are mild, but clear desert nights do drop below freezing. The exposed parts are what crack: hose bibs, irrigation backflow assemblies and lines in unheated garages. Disconnect hoses, insulate outdoor faucets and backflows, and drain irrigation before the first hard freeze. If something does split, we repair it and can fit frost-free bibs so it does not happen again.
