Drain Cleaning in Hurricane
A weekend at Sand Hollow or an afternoon on the Hurricane Canal trail ends with red sand in the shower and washer of a Hurricane home. It settles in traps and low spots in the pipe, where scale left by our hard water gives it something rough to cling to. Add grease, hair and soap and a drain goes from slow to stopped in a matter of weeks. Element handles drain cleaning in Hurricane, UT from our office at 5550 W 860 S, and we match the tool to the clog instead of pouring chemicals at it.
For a bathroom sink or tub, a cable through the trap usually does it. A main-line backup gets a larger machine at the cleanout, with roots cut if we find them. When the whole pipe is coated in grease and scale, hydro jetting scrubs it clean rather than punching a hole through it. And when the same drain keeps stopping, we recommend a camera inspection so you can see the belly, break or root intrusion for yourself before deciding what to do about it. The same crew that clears the line can repair it, so one call covers both. Our St. George drain cleaning page goes deeper on methods, and our Hurricane plumbers handle everything upstream of the drain.
Symptom Check
A plunger handles the easy clogs. These are the ones that need a plumber and the right machine.
Sand and hair have built a dam in the trap or the branch line behind it.
Grease sets up fast against scaled pipe, and a disposal only grinds it finer.
Lint and sand collect where the laundry line meets the main.
A tub or floor drain filling when you flush means the main line is blocked.
A toilet that burps when the sink drains is sharing a partly blocked line.
Rotting debris in a trap, or a trap that has dried out, lets sewer gas into the room.

Yes. A drain that stops every few months usually has a cause the cable cannot fix: a belly holding water, roots at a joint, or a cracked or offset section. We camera the line, show you the footage and price the repair, which may be a spot fix, trenchless lining or a full replacement. Read more about sewer repair across our Southern Utah market.
They do different jobs. A cable bores through the clog and is the right first tool for most bathroom and kitchen lines. Jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the full pipe wall, which is what you need when years of grease and scale have narrowed the line everywhere. We start with the lighter option when it will hold, and recommend jetting when it won’t.
For cleaning: which line is blocked, whether there is an accessible cleanout, and whether a cable will do it or the pipe needs jetting. For sewer repair: the length and depth of the line, what it is made of, what sits on top of it, and whether a trenchless method fits. Camera footage tells us most of this, and you approve a written price before any work starts.
We would skip it. Caustic cleaners heat up in the pipe, do little against sand or mineral scale, and can damage older joints and metal pipe. They also make the job harder for the plumber who follows. If you have already used some, tell us when we arrive so we can work around it safely. A plunger or a mesh hair screen is the better stopgap.
