Furnace Repair in Cedar City
Furnace repair in Cedar City is a different job than it is in St. George. The heating season starts earlier, ends later and asks far more of the equipment in between. January lows sit in the teens, cold snaps dip well below that, and a furnace may cycle dozens of times a night for weeks. Parts that would last years in a mild climate wear out faster here: igniters crack, flame sensors foul, blower bearings dry out and heat exchangers see far more thermal cycling.
Element repairs gas furnaces across Cedar City and Iron County 24/7, and every call includes a check of the burners, venting, gas connections and carbon monoxide levels. When a furnace is too old or too damaged to repair sensibly, we price a replacement next to the repair so you can choose. Our St. George heating repair team handles the same work down the hill, and Cedar City is a regular part of their route. For the full lineup, see HVAC services in Cedar City, or the Cedar City page for everything we do here.
Symptom Check
Swap the filter and check the thermostat first. If any of these keep happening, call us.
The fan pushes air but the burners never catch, or shut off within a minute.
A hot-surface igniter that has cracked, or a gas valve that isn’t opening.
Short cycling in deep cold often means a dirty flame sensor or an overheating limit switch.
A thump when the burners light is delayed ignition. Have it looked at soon.
A heating bill far above last winter’s, with similar weather, points to a furnace losing efficiency.
Get everyone outside first, then call us and the gas utility from outdoors.
What We Do
From a single failed igniter to furnace installation in Cedar City homes, sized for Iron County winters.
How It Works
Most common furnace repairs are finished on the first visit with parts we carry.
Describe what the furnace is doing. If you smell gas, call from outside the house.
We test ignition, flame sensing, gas pressure, airflow, limits and the control board.
You see the repair price and, if the furnace is near the end, a replacement price beside it.
We make the repair, check venting and CO, and confirm the temperature rise across the furnace.

Maintenance Membership
Seasonal checkups for every system in your home.
Seasonal checkups catch small problems before they become emergencies — and keep your systems running efficiently all year.
In deep cold the furnace runs longer and hotter, so a marginal part finally shows itself. A restricted filter or a dirty blower wheel lets the heat exchanger overheat and trip the high-limit switch, which shuts the burners off early. A fouled flame sensor does the same thing from the other direction. Both are routine repairs, and both are caught on a fall tune-up.
The price depends on which part failed, how accessible the furnace is, whether a safety issue like a cracked heat exchanger turns up and the age of the system. An igniter or flame sensor is at the simple end; a blower motor or control board costs more. Your technician diagnoses first, then gives you a written, upfront price to approve before any work starts, with a replacement option if that makes more sense.
When the furnace is old, the repair is a major part, or you’ve paid for several repairs in the last few winters, replacement usually costs less over time. A cracked heat exchanger is almost always a replacement. We’ll show you both prices, explain what we found and leave the decision to you. See heating installation for how a new system goes in, and financing if you’d rather spread the cost.
Yes, more than in a mild climate. A furnace that runs for months builds up dust on the flame sensor, burners and blower wheel, and that buildup is what causes most mid-winter failures. A fall cleaning and tune-up also catches a cracked igniter or a weak inducer before the first cold snap. The $59 furnace tune-up covers one system.
Keep interior doors open so heat spreads evenly, run a space heater in the room you’re using, and open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls so pipes stay warmer. If the house gets very cold, let faucets drip to keep lines from freezing. If a pipe does freeze or split, our Cedar City plumbers handle that too.
