Built for desert homes
110° summers that push air conditioners to the limit and hard water that wears out water heaters and fixtures — we know your climate.
Electrical in Hurricane
Hurricane’s electrical work splits two ways. Newer homes near Sand Hollow and along the growing edges of town were built with full panels, big air conditioning loads and, more and more often, an electric car in the garage waiting for a charger. Houses in the original town can still carry decades-old wiring and breakers that were never meant for today’s appliances. Element puts a licensed electrician in Hurricane, UT on both kinds of job, working from our office at 5550 W 860 S.
Summer is when the strain shows. The AC runs for months, often all night, and a loose connection or an undersized circuit announces itself as a warm outlet, a flickering light or a breaker that will not stay reset. Our electrical repair in Hurricane, UT starts by finding that fault, not just resetting the breaker. We also replace outdated panels, add dedicated circuits, wire Level 2 EV chargers and install whole-home surge protection ahead of monsoon season. Because the same company runs your heating and air, we can tell when an electrical symptom is really an HVAC one, and fix it in one visit. More on each service is on our St. George electrical page.
Symptom Check
Wiring rarely fails without warning. These are the warnings worth a call.
A circuit tripping whenever the AC or dryer starts is overloaded or faulty.
Dimming when a big appliance kicks on points to loose connections or a strained panel.
Heat, sparks or a hum at an outlet means stop using it and call.
Near a switch, outlet or the panel, this is a fire risk. Kill the circuit and call.
Original-town homes often run modern loads through equipment that predates them.
Appliances that failed after a monsoon storm suggest a surge got past the panel.

Yes. Element’s second Southern Utah office is at 5550 W 860 S, and our electricians work out of it alongside the HVAC and plumbing crews. The St. George team joins us for larger projects such as full service upgrades. You get the same licensed, insured electricians and the same written pricing wherever you live in the valley.
Not always. We run a load calculation on your existing panel first. Many newer Hurricane homes have the capacity for a dedicated 240-volt circuit; older homes with small panels or fuse boxes often do not. If an upgrade is needed, we explain why, show you the numbers and price the panel upgrade and the charger installation together so you can decide once.
A breaker that trips is doing its job, but one that trips often is telling you the circuit is overloaded, a wire or device is faulty, or the breaker itself is wearing out. Resetting it over and over heats the connections behind it. Stop running heavy loads on that circuit and have the cause found before it becomes a fire risk.
For repairs: where the fault is, how accessible the wiring is and what has to be replaced. For panels and chargers: the amperage, the distance from the panel to the garage or charger location, whether the utility service needs changes, and permits and inspection. You get a written price before we begin, estimates are free, and financing is available on larger upgrades.
For most Hurricane homes, yes. Monsoon storms bring lightning to Washington County each summer, and smaller surges from the grid and from large motors like your AC compressor wear on electronics year-round. A protector at the main panel shields the air conditioner, appliances and electronics together. See surge protection for how it is installed.
