The warning signs are slow drains throughout the house, gurgling pipes, sewage smells indoors or near the tank, standing water or unusually green grass over the drain field, and wastewater backing up into the lowest drains. Any of these means the tank is full, the line to it is blocked, or the drain field isn’t absorbing water the way it should.

Most household tanks should be pumped every three to five years, depending on tank size and how many people live in the home. Between pumpings, keep grease, wipes and harsh chemicals out of the drains, spread out laundry loads, and keep vehicles and heavy equipment off the drain field. Frozen ground in mountain winters can make a struggling system fail faster.

Septic repair is offered by our Durango, St. George & Hurricane and Jackson teams, including the many rural homes around Bayfield, Ignacio, Wilson and Star Valley. Our Flagstaff team doesn’t offer septic repair. If the problem turns out to be the line between the house and the tank, every location offers sewer line repair: Flagstaff, Durango, St. George & Hurricane and Jackson.
