Yes. ENERGY STAR estimates that a typical home’s duct system loses 20 to 30 percent of the air moving through it to leaks, holes and poorly connected sections. When those ducts run through an attic, crawlspace or garage, that conditioned air is lost outdoors, and your furnace or air conditioner runs longer to make up for it.

Signs of duct trouble include rooms that are always too hot or too cold, high bills despite a newer system, a dusty house, ducts that are crushed, kinked or disconnected in the attic, and whistling from vents. Sealing leaks with mastic or foil tape, insulating ducts in unconditioned spaces and fixing undersized runs can make a noticeable difference in comfort and cost.

Our St. George & Hurricane team services the furnaces and air conditioners those ducts serve. For a room that never gets comfortable, that team can also install a ductless mini-split, which heats and cools without ductwork.
