Once a year, in spring before the first hot week. An AC tune-up cleans the outdoor condenser coil, checks refrigerant levels and electrical connections, tests the capacitor and contactor, clears the condensate drain, measures airflow and temperature split, and replaces the filter. Most AC breakdowns on the hottest day of summer trace back to a part a tune-up would have flagged in April.
If you have a ductless mini-split, it heats and cools, so it needs two visits a year: spring and fall. Between visits, change the filter every one to three months, keep two feet of clearance around the outdoor unit, and rinse dust off the outdoor coil with a garden hose (power off first).
AC maintenance is offered by our St. George & Hurricane team. It isn’t offered in Flagstaff, Durango or Jackson. The Element Maintenance Plan books your seasonal checkups for you and adds priority scheduling and member savings.
