Expect 10 to 15 years from a central air conditioner in St. George, Hurricane and Washington County, toward the lower end if it’s been neglected. Summer highs regularly top 100 degrees, so a Southern Utah system runs longer and harder each year than one in a mild climate, and desert dust and pollen clog filters and outdoor coils faster.
You can stretch that lifespan with a professional tune-up every spring, a fresh filter every one to three months during cooling season, and an outdoor unit kept clear of weeds and debris. Plan for replacement when the system is past 12 years and needs a major repair, uses an older refrigerant that’s expensive to recharge, or can’t keep the house comfortable on the hottest afternoons.
AC installation, replacement and maintenance are offered by our St. George & Hurricane team, and new systems can be financed. Air conditioning service isn’t offered in Flagstaff, Durango or Jackson.
